Did you know that the Wii Console…
April 26, 2010 at 1:30 pm | Posted in Gaming Consoles | 2 Comments
- The Nintendo Wii sold more copies than Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, even though it’s been shorter on the market. Over 50 million copies were sold in the first 30 months since it’s launch. Now that’s marketing!
- The Wii console can take up to 16,8 kilonewtons of force before it explodes. Good to know.
- If you take apart your Wii console, you will end up with exactly 87 pieces . I’m sure conspiracy theory guys are already brainstorming what this number could mean
- You can have one remote control all of the four players in Tenis.
- It is the first console to be marketed outside of Japan without the name “Nintendo” preceeding the name of the console – “Wii”.
- Games released for Nintendo Wii are not pressed on regular DVD discs. Nintendo uses their own discs for this – “Nintendo Optical Discs”.
- The console was called ‘Wii” because the two lower case “ii” invoke an image of two people playing together. An additional reason is because it is a name that can be easily pronunced in virtually every language in existance. Oui?
Even though the name is cool, I think I will stick with my PC for gaming (I know, old fashioned). Are there any other trivia regarding this console? If anyone knows, please share them in the comments. Thanks!

- On average, a cow moves her jaw more than 40,000 times every day.
- A typical dairy cow can produce 5 gallons (~19 liters) of ice cream every day. Gotta get me a cow.
- It is estimated that there are over 900 different breeds of cows around the world.
- A dairy cow is able to produce up to 130 pounds (~60 kilograms) of saliva each day. Remind me never to kiss one.
- The oldest cow known to man is called Big Bertha; she died around her 49th birthday. Holy cow!
What do you think of the cow when compared to other animals? I’m not sure if there is anymore trivia about cows, if you know something, could you please share it in the comments?

- Listed Tom Hanks, Paul Newman and Edward Norton as his favorite actors.
- James Lafferty has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do martial arts. In this case, I gotta be careful not to make any jokes about him over here:)
- Lafferty’s hobbies include: Snowboarding, Skiing, Snorkeling, Horseback Riding, Football and Basketball. Quite and industrial little fellow.
- His favorite movies are fight club and beautiful girls.
- Before he started his acting career, he was completely obsessed about trying to get into the NBA.
- James Lafferty does not like to eat Sushi.
Looks like One Tree Hill has got itself one serious actor (don’t take this too literally, remember the black belt..).
What you didn’t know about Blizzard’s Diablo series…
April 25, 2010 at 2:51 pm | Posted in Games | 1 Comment
- The Diablo art designers team were fans of the actress Natalie Portman. They embedded secret messages in the game’s main menu that you can only view if you capture an image of the menu from Diablo and reduce it to 16 colors using some image editing program. If you know what those messages read, let me know..
- Blizzard was originally going to make Diablo a turn based game. Only later did they decide against it. Thank God.
- At one point in time, you could buy in stores cheat programs for Diablo, which allowed you to increase your lever, get unusual objects and other similar activities. Fair game.
- While in the game, hit ENTER and then type soundchaosdebug and then hit enter again. See what happens! Just make sure not to have your sound turned up too loudly
- Blizzard published on its official Diablo 2 website a note of a new monster called Reziarfg. It turned out to be a joke, and the name was just the reverse of one of Blizzard’s Employees – G Frazier.
- In November 14, 2001, Dark Horse Comics published a comic book called Diablo: Tales of Sanctuary, which connected many characters from Diablo (necromancer, barbarian, and others). The history takes place during Baal’s invasion.
Diablo was epic, but i sincerely prefer Blizzard’s StarCraft. What’s your opinion?
Did you know that Boxing…
April 25, 2010 at 12:43 pm | Posted in Sports | 2 Comments
- Traces back its origins to the Greek Island “Santorini”, where a fresco depicting two boxers was discovered. The fresco was dated back to 1600 B.C.
- According to historian records, knockouts were not valued by the boxing public from the distant past. The aim was for the boxer to remain uninjured for as long as possible, eventually forcing your opponent to surrender from being too tired. It was noted by historians that one mighty boxer avoided being hit for two days, until his opponent finally gave up. You can’t say they didn’t crave winning.
- The reason the fighter’s ground is called a “boxing ring”, even though it is square, is because in ancient Rome, boxing rules required from both fighters to remain within a circle drawn with chalk on the arena.
- Hal Bagwell got himself into history books as the fighter with the best win:loss ration; during his 10 years long career he won 175 matches, lost 0, and got 5 draws.
- Archie Moore holds the record for the highest number of knockouts during a career – 141. He must have really hated his opponents.
- The great Muhammad Ali lost more fights to amateur boxers (seven) than to professional ones (five).
People are drawn to violence, there is no avoiding it.
Did you know that newborn babies…
April 25, 2010 at 12:08 pm | Posted in Humans | Leave a comment
- Babies are born without the bridge of the nose. Which is why they have the ‘button’ shaped nose. The bridge only grows out later.
- Almost all babies are born with blue or blue-gray colored eyes. Only after a few months from birth does the permanent color take place.
- The largest number of babies is born on a tuesday. Strange huh? Maybe it’s because the mothers are stressed out on mondays, and stress forces labour..
- Newborn babies have extremely poor eyesight; their eyes are focused at somewhere around 8 inches (~22 centimeters) away from their face, so if you want your newborn to see you well, you have to approach him real close. Just don’t scare him though.
- Nearly every newborn baby gets wind (farting!) which can last for the first few months of his life. I need to rethink my approach to having a baby..
- Newborn babies spend about 15-20 hours sleeping each day. Kind’a like my cat.
- Babies have an amazing sense of smell; a few days after they are born, they can already identify their mother by her smell. Hmm…. like my cat…
Are babies similar to cats? You decide
Did you know that Giraffes…
April 25, 2010 at 11:01 am | Posted in Animals | Leave a commentTags: Animals
- Have extremely overgrown hearts, about 2 feet (~65 centimeters) long, and weighs 25 pounds (~12 kilograms). This is so that there is enough pressure to pump blood to the head, which is situated very high. Because of this high pressure, giraffes are quite prone to heart attacks. No alcohol for you, Mr. Giraffe!
- Even though they have extremely long necks, they have the same number of vertebrae as most other mammals (seven). I feel cheated!
- A giraffe’s sleep usually lasts no longer than 1 to 13 minutes!
- A giraffe’s tongue is about 19 inches ( ~51 centimeters) long. I’m sure there are people who are getting turned on right now
- Similar to camels, a giraffe can go for a very long time without drinking.
- In order to establish dominance in their herds, male giraffes will neck wrestle each other. Neck wrestling; why didn’t I think of that before?
- A giraffe can drunk up to 11 gallons (~40 liters) of water in one setting.
- A giraffe’s footprint is 12 inches (~30 centimeters) long and 9 inches (~25 centimeters) wide.
- When a baby giraffe is born, it starts its life by dropping from 6 feet (~70 centimeters) to the ground. Where is the Animal’s Rights Protection agency now? this is child abuse!
Some how, I find myself not liking giraffes too much after this. I definitely prefer horses or rats! What about you?
Did you know that Hamburgers…
April 24, 2010 at 12:59 pm | Posted in Food | 1 Comment
- Are named “hamburgers” because they originated in Hamburg, Germany, and not because they contain ham. Only later was the hamburger reinvented by northern americans. This makes me question the origin of the name “cheeseburger”…
- There is a hamburger hall of fame located in Seymour, Wisconsin. Somehow I’m not surprised
- The big mac from Mc Donald’s was introduced in 1968 and was priced at 49 cents.
- The most expensive hamburger is the FleurBurger , prepared by chef Hubert Keller. It costs 5,000 US dollars. Three to go, please.
- Possibly the largest hamburger server is the Absolutely Ridiculous Hamburger. You have to order it 3 days before your day of arrival at the restaurant and you get to bring up to 30 people to eat it with you. It costs around 450 USD.
- About 45% of all sandwiches sold worldwide are hamburgers.
I’m hungry.
